Pushing the boundaries of plein air landscape painting, Track To Savilles Creek has been created by walking to location while wearing water colour paper strapped to hiking boots and then recording the impressions of surrounding views by using dirt, watercolour and binder.
Track To The Lone Palm
Similar to above, Track To The Lone Palm is another example of action based landscape painting that seeks to create more of an intimate connection with the subject by immersing oneself in the surrounds as well as incorporating materials in situ (i.e. dirt) with painting mediums.
Explorations - painting by food stain.
Borsht is part of The Feast series of works exploring painting by food stain. I laid a sheet of paper on the chopping board and cut up the ingredients for beetroot based soup - borsht. The result was a combination of beautiful soft blending stains contrasted by sharp and angular cutting lines. I then deepened some of the major cuts, folded parts of paper in and out. Utilising some of the minor cuts I implied a series of folds to the paper, producing a three dimensional sculptural arrangement.
Beef and Ale Stew
This work has been created by inserting paper straight into the stewing pot during cooking. The heated fat mixed with juices of the stew makes some beautiful marks and acts as a temporary preservative for this perishable medium. Once the hot fat from stewing cools and dries dries, any folds in the paper keep their shape and loose particles get glued on.
